Dylan McLean is a Scottish lighting designer with a career in theatre that began at the age of 16. Since then, he has developed an extensive design portfolio, working across a wide range of theatre productions in venues throughout Scotland. His design approach centres on creating evocative atmospheres and memorable visual experiences that enhance storytelling for audiences.

His work is driven by a balance of creative intent, technical precision, and practical production knowledge. With a strong understanding of both the artistic and logistical demands of live performance, Dylan is experienced in delivering designs that are visually impactful while remaining efficient, adaptable, and technically robust.

Dylan studied at the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland, where he gained a Bachelor of Arts (BA) in Production Technology and Management, specialising in Lighting Design.

He is the Director of Shine Productions Hire LTD, a production hire company supplying high-quality lighting, sound, and production services. The company provides comprehensive technical solutions for theatre and events across the UK, supporting productions from initial planning through to final delivery with industry-standard equipment and experienced technical support.
